De Tellurium Q Ultra Black II Luidsprekerkabel is de opvolger van de geprezen Tellurium Q Ultra Black. De Ultra Black II gaat ten opzichte van de oudere serie nog een aantal stappen verder in verfijning, detaillering en staging van het geluidsbeeld. Het doel van de Black II is de muziek als een samenhangend geheel te presenteren zonder enige vorm van scherpte. Dit resulteert in een overweldigend gevoel van natuurlijkheid en realisme.
Naast de luidsprekerkabel bestaat de Ultra Black II serie ook nog uit jumpers en analoog RCA en XLR. Op deze manier is groot gedeelte van uw installatie totaal te voorzien van Ultra Black II bekabeling.
Tellurium Q biedt met de Ultra Black II serie een lijn, mede door zijn koperen legering, die nergens een vorm van scherpte biedt. De lijn is de uitermate geschikt voor sets die al relatief eerlijk zijn van zichzelf. U kunt hierbij denken aan goede transistorversterker of klasse d versterker. Een match met (bepaalde) buizen versterker of andere wat warme versterker is bijvoorbeeld Silver serie van Tellurium Q weer een beter optie.
De Tellurium Q Ultra Black II luidsprekerkabel is verkrijgbaar in standaard lengtes 2 x 2 meter, 2 x 2.5 meter en 2 x 3 meter. En eventueel op bestelling ook verkrijgbaar in andere lengtes. De standaard afwerking van de kabel is met banaanpluggen, maar een spade is uiteraard ook een optie. Elke serie van Tellurium Q is tevens verkrijgbaar in bi-wire uitvoering.
Opener “Wind-Up,” follower “Evermore” and shorty “Stray” with the Ultra Black II cables in place presents Mike Tuley’s sustained organ/pedal work as an electric undercurrent of gospel hurdy-gurdy running through their foundations. Demonstrating a vintage flavour to the organ’s harmonic tone, and possessing what sonically presents as infinite gradations of timbral colourations, it is deeply resonant and presented pitch-perfectly.

It is hard to understand what has happened here, the last few weeks of exposure to Tellurium Q have changed my perception of HiFi and what can be achieved. I have no technical things to point to but all I can say is just have a listen if you think this review is hyperbole. I can guarantee, if your system is up to it, it will be improved.

Tellurium Q’s Ultra Black 11’s can be seen as one of the best loudspeaker cables on the market at their price. They are not cheap – but in terms of pounds for sound they out-perform many more expensive brands.

I could talk all day about all the albums I listened to but that would bore you and be of no interest anyway if you didn’t know the music or like it. What I can state is that the Ultra Black 11 cables are currently the best I have heard in my system and I will sorely miss them if they go back. At £310 a mono metre they certainly aren’t cheap and the 3m pair I had would cost £1860. In the context of my set up that equates to about 10% of its value, so it is not a ridiculous overspend or imbalance. If you are serious about Hifi and love your music then great cables to finish it off are not just de rigeur (a fashion statement), no, they are essential. Geoff and his team are once again to be congratulated on a fabulous design and addition to his range.
